Production Team Lead

Location: Elgin, IL

Shift: (Day Shift) 5AM to 5PM

Schedule: Rotating 2-2-3 Schedule

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

Summary of Job

The Production Team Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by leading production employees, maintaining safety and quality standards, and helping achieve production goals. This is a hands-on leadership role that provides direction, training, and support while promoting a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensure product quality, labeling, packaging, and traceability standards are met while addressing quality issues, supporting daily production goals, and monitoring scrap and production performance.
• Ensure daily equipment inspections and AM tasks are completed, promptly escalate equipment issues, and support maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
• Lead production employees by setting clear expectations for safety, quality, and productivity while promoting teamwork, accountability, and effective communication.
• Support onboarding, training, and cross-training efforts while communicating priorities, safety concerns, and shift handoff information to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain proper material flow, prevent material shortages and mix-ups, and support 5S standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Complete production, scrap, downtime, and quality documentation, ensure work orders are completed on time, and support continuous improvement and standard work practices.
• Maintain a visible presence on the production floor.
• Lead with professionalism, fairness, and accountability.
• Remain calm and solution-focused during operational challenges.
• Foster a positive and respectful work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience required; leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead by example and motivate a team.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Basic computer and reporting skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and to stand for long periods during scheduled shifts.
