We are seeking a Production Supply & Inventory Clerk to join our team in Hickory, NC!
Job Summary:
The Production Supply & Inventory Clerk plays a critical role in supporting our manufacturing operation by ensuring production teams have the correct materials, in the correct quantities, when they need them.
This is a hands-on position responsible for pulling and verifying small parts, building kits for assembly work orders, staging materials for production, maintaining assembly carts, managing inventory accuracy, and moving materials throughout the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This person must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple production needs, accurately handle small parts and quantities, and communicate material shortages or discrepancies before they impact production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Pull materials for production work orders using work orders, pick lists, and inventory information.
Build complete material kits for assembly crews based on production requirements.
Verify part numbers, descriptions, and quantities before staging materials.
Stage completed kits and materials at the appropriate production areas.
Review assembly carts daily and replenish required materials.
Identify missing, incorrect, or insufficient materials before they impact production.
Print labels and complete required inventory transactions.
Communicate material shortages and discrepancies to Operations, Purchasing, or other appropriate personnel.
Receive, unload, identify, label, and put away incoming materials.
Move materials through the various stages of production, including receiving, WIP, and finished goods.
Ensure material movements are accurately recorded in the ERP/inventory system.
Perform part inspections according to approved procedures and specifications.
Use counting scales for bulk receiving, relabeling, and re-boxing.
Maintain organized storage locations and ensure materials are properly identified.
Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and communicate findings.
Maintain inventory accuracy through proper counting, handling, labeling, and system transactions.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or potential production issues.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of inventory, staging, and production-support areas.
Pick and stage materials for shipment based on pick lists.
Assist the Shipping Department with material handling and other operational needs as required.
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as trained.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
Support other operational needs as assigned.
Preferred Experience:
1+ year of manufacturing, warehouse, material handling, inventory control, receiving, or production-support experience.
Experience picking, staging, or kitting materials for production.
Experience working from work orders, pick lists, bills of material, or production schedules.
Experience with inventory transactions or an ERP/inventory management system.
Forklift or other material-handling equipment experience.
Shipping and receiving experience.
Cycle counting or physical inventory experience.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with part numbers and quantities.
Ability to accurately count and verify materials.
Ability to read and follow written work instructions, work orders, and production requirements.
Ability to identify and communicate material shortages and inventory discrepancies.
Ability to prioritize multiple production requests and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory/ERP systems.
Strong safety awareness.
Ability to work effectively with production, operations, purchasing, shipping, and other departments.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements
Production environment: dust and grease are common. Significant risks from equipment and the environment require constant care and vigilance
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and carry up to 40 lbs (50+ pounds requires a team lift)
Regularly required to use hands and hand tools to handle materials and reach with hands and arms
This role works Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm.
Pay Range: $18-21/hr
