Production Supervisor (Automotive OEM | Union Manufacturing)

Shift & Schedule (Required)
- Must be able to work 1st and 2nd shift
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM start (onsite by 5:30 AM)
- 2nd shift: 4:30 PM start (onsite by 4:00 PM)
- Typical schedule: 910 hour days (includes pre/post-shift duties)
- Weekend availability required, including potential Sundays
- Overtime as needed
Role Summary
The Production Supervisor leads small teams in a
fast-paced, high-volume, union automotive OEM manufacturing environment. This role drives
safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance, while developing team capability and supporting
lean / continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the production plan and meet daily performance metrics
- Maintain a safe workplace; enforce required safety procedures and drive safety improvements
- Identify losses, troubleshoot issues, and implement/sustain continuous improvement actions (kaizen/lean)
- Monitor and improve quality KPIs; prioritize issues and guide team leaders through corrective actions
- Allocate manpower, manage absenteeism, and train/develop teams to maintain coverage and performance
- Partner with support groups/resources to solve problems and remove constraints
- Present updates and metrics in shop-floor and leadership forums
- Use Microsoft tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for communication and reporting
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Automotive manufacturing experience required (OEM strongly preferred)
- Ability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams in a high-volume environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (technical field preferred)
- 2+ years supervisory experience
- Union manufacturing experience
- Experience with structured continuous improvement / lean systems (e.g., WCM or similar)
Manufacturing Shift Engineer
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for Manufacturing Shift Engineers for our clients operation near Martinsburg, WV. These are direct hire positions on a 12 hour (2-2-3 shift schedule) with competitive salary and benefits.
The Manufacturing Shift Engineer are responsible for providing technical leadership and operational oversight during assigned shifts while driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process. This position combines engineering expertise with production leadership to optimize safety, quality, equipment performance, productivity and cost efficiency.
You will work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to identify process improvements, troubleshoots production issues, analyzes operational data, and leads projects that improve manufacturing performance.
Qualifications:- Bachelors Degree Engineering (i.e. Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience required
- Experience in plastics manufacturing, thermoforming, extrusion, food packaging, or related industries preferred.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Continuous Improvement Projects.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
- Lean Manufacturing certification
- Project Management experience
- Experience with OEE improvement and PLC-controlled equipment
- Knowledge of extrusion and thermoforming processes.
- SAP or ERP experience
