Position Overview
The Production Supervisor leads day-to-day manufacturing operations to deliver safe, high-quality product on time and within budget. This role supervises production staff, enforces standardized work and safety procedures, manages schedules and resources, and drives continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma) to increase productivity, reduce waste, and meet operational KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach production staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Plan and coordinate daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and delivery targets while optimizing labor and machine utilization.
- Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices and 5S workplace organization across the production area.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement and Six Sigma projects to reduce waste, improve yield, and streamline processes.
- Monitor production metrics (OEE, throughput, scrap, downtime) and generate regular reports; take corrective actions to meet KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality procedures and maintain accurate production documentation and records.
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, quality, and supply chain to resolve production issues and implement process changes.
- Train operators on standardized work instructions, proper equipment use, and problem-solving techniques (root cause analysis).
- Manage shift handovers and ensure consistent communication of priorities, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for consumables and coordinate with procurement to minimize production interruptions.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience with in a supervisory or lead role.
- Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies;
- Strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, and safety regulations (OSHA or equivalent).
- Proven problem-solving skills using root cause analysis and data-driven decision making.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team development abilities with experience coaching frontline employees.
- Comfortable using production software and MS Office; experience with MES/ERP systems a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours including shifts and overtime as required.
