    Description

    Production Supervisor – 1st Shift (Metal Fabrication & Welding)

    The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily metal fabrication and welding operations while promoting a culture of safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork. This position supervises production employees, coordinates workflow, and ensures fabrication and welding schedules are completed efficiently, safely, and to quality standards.

    As a key member of the manufacturing leadership team, the Production Supervisor will provide hands-on leadership within a fast-paced fabrication environment, supporting welders, fabricators, and production personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in metal fabrication, welding processes, workforce development, and continuous improvement.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead and supervise welders, fabricators, and production employees to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
    • Coordinate daily workflow, staffing, and production schedules within the metal fabrication and welding departments.
    • Monitor fabrication and welding operations to ensure compliance with specifications, quality requirements, and production deadlines.
    • Ensure proper implementation of welding procedures, fabrication standards, and quality control processes.
    • Promote and enforce all company safety policies, including safe operation of welding and fabrication equipment.
    • Train, coach, and develop employees on welding techniques, fabrication processes, equipment operation, and safety practices.
    • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues involving fabrication, welding, materials, and production flow.
    • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve manufacturing processes and resolve production challenges.
    • Conduct routine inspections of fabricated components and finished products to verify quality standards are met.
    • Manage employee performance, attendance, timecard approvals, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews.
    • Ensure materials, tooling, consumables, and equipment are available to support production requirements.
    • Maintain production, labor, quality, and operational records and prepare reports as needed.
    • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, waste reduction efforts, and continuous improvement projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or industrial manufacturing.
    • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong knowledge of welding processes, fabrication techniques, blueprint reading, and shop operations.
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
    • Ability to work in a drug-free workplace and pass required screenings.

    Preferred

    • Conversational Spanish.
    • Experience supervising fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing operations.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Knowledge of quality standards, weld inspections, and fabrication best practices.

    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a manufacturing facility.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and more than 100 lbs. with assistance.
    • Ability to work around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, cranes, and hand tools.
    • Ability to work in varying temperatures and typical manufacturing conditions.
    • Frequent communication using radios and other communication devices.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

    Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annually

    Schedule: 1st Shift
    Monday - Friday
    Overtime as required
