Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing daily production activities during the overnight shift while ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This role provides leadership to production employees, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and partners with multiple departments to achieve production goals while maintaining high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and motivate a team of hourly production employees.
- Monitor daily production activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are consistently met.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing company policies and conducting routine safety observations.
- Train, mentor, and develop employees to improve performance and encourage professional growth.
- Onboard and train new hires on company procedures and job responsibilities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all shift-related operations and communication.
Essential Job Duties
- Assign daily work responsibilities and monitor employee performance throughout the shift.
- Maintain a safe work environment through regular inspections, coaching, and safety compliance.
- Troubleshoot production, equipment, and quality issues while implementing immediate corrective actions.
- Monitor production metrics including output, scrap, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Complete production reports, attendance records, and approve employee timekeeping.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Conduct employee coaching, performance discussions, and disciplinary documentation when necessary.
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse departments to support production goals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GMPs, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.
- Drive accountability while fostering teamwork and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing leadership or production supervisory role required.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with production reporting, scheduling, and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.
