Oversee day-to-day operations of the packaging department including scheduling, team supervision, inventory management, and compliance with USDA food safety standards. Reports to the Packaging Manager. Responsible for ensuring production targets are met while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and quality-focused environment.
• Build and manage packaging department schedules to meet production deadlines
• Monitor and verify daily completion of packaging line activities
• Implement and enforce self-inspection and internal audit schedules
• Train, coach, and develop line packers, team leaders, and material handlers
• Address performance and policy issues in partnership with the Packaging Manager
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and departmental supply inventory
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GMP standards, and USDA guidelines
• Delegate responsibilities and provide solutions that support broader operational goals
• Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred
• Food or manufacturing background a plus
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong attention to detail (meat type, film, date coding)
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Able to read, write, and speak English
• Must pass a math and reasoning assessment
• Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Must be able to stand for 8–9 hours per day
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
• Work in cold environment at 40°F or below
• Must be available for mandatory overtime as needed
• Two shifts available; schedule flexibility required
• Base salary: $70,000 – $80,000 depending on experience
