Production Manager

Location: Watertown, MA / Greater Boston Area

Based out of our Watertown office, with regular travel to active projects throughout Greater Boston and MetroWest, generally within about 45 minutes of the office.

ReModern Builders LLC is an award-winning home builder and remodeler based in Watertown, MA, specializing in high-end residential renovations, additions, custom remodeling, framing, finish carpentry and millwork installation. We take on challenging, architect-driven projects that require precision, strong communication, thoughtful planning and a deep respect for quality craftsmanship.

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to run the field side of our company. This role reports directly to the owner and is responsible for every project once it moves into production: the people, the schedule, the budget and the quality of the work.

You will manage our Superintendents and carpentry crew, own change orders and job budgets, and make sure our standards are carried out the same way on every job. This is not a desk job. The right person is in the office planning in the morning and on jobsites solving problems in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all field operations across active projects, reporting directly to the owner.
• Manage and hold accountable two Superintendents, an Assistant Superintendent and our in-house carpentry crew.
• Build and run the weekly labor plan across all jobs, including scheduling outside carpenters, framers and specialty crews when the team is short.
• Own all change orders: gather costs from subs and suppliers, price them, get them into Buildertrend with the office and get them to the client for approval.
• Own the rolling job budget and cost to complete in Buildertrend once a project is in production, and answer client budget questions.
• Visit active jobsites regularly to check schedule, quality, safety, site setup and cleanliness.
• Enforce company SOPs with the field team, including site setup standards, daily logs and 24 hour email response.
• Serve as the first point of escalation for injuries, near misses and field mistakes. Lead the follow up and make sure it does not happen again.
• Hold subcontractors to our standards for workmanship, communication and schedule.
• Coach Superintendents to see problems early and solve them before they turn into delays or cost.
• Protect job margins by catching rework, inefficiency and avoidable field costs.
• Provide field input on pricing and constructability during preconstruction when needed.
• Step in and run a project directly when it needs it.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years in high-end residential construction, remodeling or custom homes.
• Prior experience as a Production Manager, Project Manager, General Superintendent or similar senior field role.
• Proven track record managing Superintendents, foremen and carpenters.
• Experience pricing and managing change orders and tracking job budgets against actual cost.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, carpentry, building systems and subcontractor coordination.
• Able to run multiple active projects at once without losing the details.
• Able to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
• Comfortable holding employees and subs accountable while keeping good working relationships.
• Solves problems instead of just passing them up.
• Buildertrend experience strongly preferred. Comfortable with Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Construction management or related education is a plus.
• Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, not required.
• Employment is contingent on background and motor vehicle record checks, where permitted by law.

Pay and Benefits:

• Full-time, W-2 employment.
• Compensation: $90-110K base pay, based on experience.
• Quarterly performance bonus eligibility.
• Employer-paid health insurance stipend of approximately $6,600 annually, paid through payroll.
• Vehicle stipend of approximately $330 per month while using a personal vehicle. Company vehicle may be considered after an introductory period, based on business needs and driving record.
• 401(k) with employer match after 1 year.
• 10 PTO days after the initial eligibility period, increasing with tenure up to 15 days.
• 11 paid holidays per year.
• Monday to Friday during normal construction hours, with flexibility as projects require.
• Support for licenses, certifications and continuing education.
