Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive Production Manager to oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products, and drive continuous improvement across the shop floor. The role focuses on meeting production targets safely and efficiently while implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles, coordinating welding and preprocessing activities, and developing the production team to sustain performance gains.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all production activities to meet delivery, quality, and cost targets.
- Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and shop-floor personnel to build a high-performance team.
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing initiatives and 5S to improve flow, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Oversee welding and preprocessing operations to ensure consistent quality, correct setup, and compliance with welding procedures and safety standards.
- Monitor key production metrics (OEE, yield, scrap, throughput) and use data to drive continuous improvement and corrective actions.
- Manage resource allocation including labor, equipment, tooling, and materials to optimize utilization.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a strong safety culture on the floor.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production problems and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and supply chain to resolve production issues and support new product introductions or process changes.
- Manage production budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role in production.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies and delivering measurable improvements.
- Hands-on experience with welding processes and welding quality control; certifications such as AWS welding certifications are a plus.
- Experience with preprocessing operations (material preparation, cutting, staging) and process setup.
- Strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Proven ability to manage production KPIs, use manufacturing systems/ERP, and analyze production data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a focus on team development and cross-functional collaboration.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards (ISO, IATF 16949, or equivalent experience preferred).
