Production Manager Location: Brooklyn Park, MN Company: Specialty Printing & Identification Solutions (confidential client)
About the Company We are a fast-growing specialty printing company with in-house capabilities including UV printing, HP Indigo, sublimation, and screen printing. Our team produces high-quality name badges, laminated event credentials, and custom print solutions in a deadline-driven environment. The operation includes a 13-person production team supported by a 7-person sales staff.
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead daily operations on the production floor. This role is responsible for scheduling, workflow coordination, materials management, and team leadership to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
This is not a desk-only role — you will be actively involved on the floor, supporting the team and driving production.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling & Workflow
Develop and manage daily/weekly production schedules
Assign jobs based on equipment, staffing, and deadlines
Manage priority shifts, rush orders, and last-minute changes
Oversee workflow across printing, finishing, and shipping
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and support production staff
Train team members and enforce quality and safety standards
Monitor productivity, engagement, and staffing needs
Materials & Inventory Coordination
Coordinate and order specialty materials as needed
Partner with purchasing on inventory levels and replenishment
Track usage of inks, substrates, laminates, and consumables
Cross-Functional Communication
Act as the main liaison between production and sales
Clarify job specs, timelines, and changes
Provide updates on production status and potential risks
Quality & Process Improvement
Ensure high-quality output and reduce rework
Identify bottlenecks and improve workflow efficiency
Coordinate equipment maintenance and downtime planning
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in print manufacturing or a related production environment
Experience with at least one print method: UV, HP Indigo (digital), screen printing, or sublimation
Proven experience in production scheduling and workflow management
Prior leadership experience (lead, supervisor, or manager) required
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
