Description

Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible forSite production performance with respect to HS&E, on-time delivery, production cost and quality and adherence to the production plan. 

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day production operations. Plan production to ensure delivery of products on time, to quality and cost 
  • Ensure effective utilization of production resources and drive productivity improvements 
  • Manage staff selection, performance and development to ensure requisite competencies and capabilities  
  • Update and Maintain necessary records/ documents of production work performed including the defined DLA board, ensuring items are escalated as appropriate 
  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with relevant legislation and Company requirements 

 

Supervisory Scope

  • Direct Reports: hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
  • Indirect Reports: may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports


Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Education Level (Preferred): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

2+ years of experience in production management

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

  • A solid understanding of capacity planning and management, including Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), work scheduling techniques and inventory management 
  • A solid understanding of LEAN production management. 
  • A qualified “Green Belt” with demonstrated experience of leading  Kaizen events 
  • Demonstrable people management and team leadership skills 
  • A good understanding of HSE principles  
  • A basic understanding of Zero Defects methodology and Quality Management techniques, such as 8 the Disciplines of Problem Solving (8D) and Statistical Process Control 
  • A basic understanding of finance principles and their application to the production environment 

 

Environmental & Physical Requirements 

 

Office / Sedentary Requirements 

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.   

 

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements 

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
