SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Planning, the Production Manager is responsible for ensuring daily production of upholstered furniture is executed according to schedule.  The Production Manager oversees multiple manufacturing areas that support final production, directs daily activities ensuring that products are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards and cost parameters. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Executes the daily production schedule maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
·       Achieve optimum productivity and employee efficiency levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs.
·       Direct and monitor department supervisors to accomplish goals of the production schedule, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
·       Act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance and results.
·       Responsible for overseeing through staff, the maintenance of all machinery, and equipment including building maintenance.
·       Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff.
·       Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with the Human Resources Department as appropriate.
·       Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
·       Implements various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., 5S, training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
·       Manage monthly bonus process for production/direct labor employees and their respective leads, and assistant leads.
·       Implements major projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).      
·       Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
·       Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles including Oracle, SAP, or related technology.
·       Knowledge of process improvement, manufacturing engineering and related fields
·       Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects.
·       Excellent verbal and written communication
·       Ability to interact collaboratively with others.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

·       BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline.
·       7-10 years' experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
·       5 years of people management
