    Job Summary

     

    Join National Pipe & Plastics, one of North America's leading PVC pipe manufacturers, as aProduction Manager and play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position offers the opportunity to lead production teams, influence plant performance, and partner closely with senior leadership to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.

    Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, maximizing the efficiency of personnel and equipment, and ensuring products are produced to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives on developing teams, improving processes, and delivering results in a dynamic production setting.

     

    Job Location

     

    This role is based in our plant in Coflax, NC. 

     

    Job Responsibilities

     

    • Supervise all production activities for assigned shift

    • Organize and delegate tasks to employees

    • Ensure that personnel are working efficiently and effectively through follow-up and training

    • Teach, advocate, and use safe working practices and require all personnel to observe and use safe working practices

    • Oversee the effective and timely changeover of production lines

    • Shop organization to ensure the flow of production and machine preparedness

    • Hire, train, direct, and mentor shift employees

    • Conduct routine employee performance reviews

    • Recommend promotions and demotions of shift employees

    • Direct shift employees in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S program

    • Recording of shop logs and personnel information

    • Communicate problems, etc. with other shift supervisors or department heads as necessary

    • Initiate all disciplinary action procedures consistent with company policies while establishing and maintaining good working relationships with employees

    • Meet or exceed goals such as production output, quality, scrap rates, and material utilization

    • Organize and communicate between departments

    • Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

     

    Job Requirements

     

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Strong mathematical aptitude
    • Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments, including rulers, calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, and scales
    • Manual dexterity with the ability to safely use hand tools and set up/operate production equipment
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform frequent standing, walking, and lifting
    • Manufacturing experience, preferably in plastics production
    • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment
    • Proven ability to lead, train, motivate, and communicate effectively with employees and management
    • Working knowledge of production operations, equipment, material handling, quality control, and safety practices
    • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
    • Hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain production equipment
    • Ability to follow written safety procedures and work instructions
    • Forklift certification preferred
    • Basic computer skills preferred
