Production Maintenance Technician I

Responsibilities include efficient preventative maintenance and repair of food manufacturing and packaging equipment, including Aseptic Fillers, Cappers, Packer and/or High Temperature Processing (HTP) equipment. Can execute Preventative, Corrective and Break down Work Orders under direction of a Level II III, Lead or Supervisor. Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Wears PPE and adheres to all Food Safety requirementsStrictly adheres to all Safety requirements and maintains safety training recordsMaintain a clean and safe working environmentEnsure safety in the workplace by eliminating unsafe conditionsPerforms planned, corrective, and unplanned maintenance on specified equipmentAbility to read and understand Maintenance Manuals for proper repair and careCapable of effectively supporting more senior mechanics in complex repairs or servicesProtect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildingsGeneral computer skillsEnters time, parts and follow ups into CMMS SystemRemain current on all Alchemy, Food Safety and Package Integrity Training as directedSkilled in the use of, and possession of, hand and power toolsExecutes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance SupervisorInspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standardsMaintains communication (oral and written) within the maintenance team to ensure smooth shift transitionsOther duties as assigned or required

Safety

Follow all facility human and food safety policies including proper use of PPE.Report all near misses and accidents to the production supervisor.

Quality:

Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelinesFollow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to conduct required testing for products prior to processing, after processing and prior to product release.Must comply and support the HACCP program.

Housekeeping

Maintains a clean and organized work area.Assists all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in the housekeeping endeavor.

Communications

As a member of the FSQ team, ensures the effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs on each scheduled shift.Maintains effective communication with members of the support group.Communicate, Communicate, and Communicate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.A self-starter capable of working in a team-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages.Ability to solve practical problems and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.Knowledge of business and manufacturing software.

Additional Considerations:

Location: This position will be at the SunOpta Plant in Modesto, CA.Shift: SunOpta currently has an opportunity on Night Shift, 6pm to 6:30 am on a 2-2-3 pattern.Availability: Some flexibility may be needed on occasion.Pay Rate: $36.75/hour

There is a $2.00/hour shift differential for working the 12-hour night shift on the 2-2-3 pattern.Shift: This will be a Night Shift, 6:00 pm- 6:30 am, on a 2-2-3 pattern.

Work Environment: This position will be in a production / manufacturing environment.Physical Demands: This role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
