    A day in this role

    You arrive, review the day’s instructions and specifications, and get machines ready to run. You choose the right tooling, secure each workpiece with clamps and wrenches, and dial in the controls so performance meets quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. As production starts, you watch each machine closely, verify output quality, and make fine adjustments to keep everything on target.

    Throughout the shift, you serve as the department communicator—sharing status in meetings, updating management, and ensuring smooth handoffs at shift change. If an issue pops up, you report it immediately to your supervisor. You keep equipment in safe operating condition, tag and remove any nonconforming material, complete the required paperwork accurately and on time, and coordinate with other departments as needed. Before you leave, the work area is clean and organized, and all company rules and policies have been followed.

    What you will handle

    • Set up and operate tools, machinery, and equipment according to instructions and specifications.
    • Select, place, and secure the correct tools for each job.
    • Position and secure workpieces on machine tables or holding devices using clamps and wrenches.
    • Observe machine operation and output to verify quality performance.
    • Set and adjust controls to regulate machine performance.
    • Inspect tooling and repair or replace components as needed.
    • Confirm machines are running properly against specifications, including fixtures, cutting speeds, and feed rates.
    • Report problems to the immediate supervisor without delay.
    • Act as department communicator during status meetings, management updates, and shift changes.
    • Maintain equipment so its condition never compromises safety.
    • Ensure work is performed safely, consistently, and to quality standards.
    • Identify, tag, and remove nonconforming materials.
    • Accurately complete all required paperwork on time.
    • Communicate and coordinate with other departments as needed.
    • Keep work areas clean and organized.
    • Adhere to all company rules and policies.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
