Production Laborer

What You'll Do:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Production I teammate supports daily yard operations by loading materials, assisting customers, operating equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role performs general labor duties and works closely with teammates in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

• • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Oversee loading of trailers and containers for content, weight, and quality.
  • Assist and direct customers to the proper location to unload materials.
  • Interact with scale teammates to help verify purchases and prevent duplication.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, complete daily inspections, and report needed repairs.
  • Perform general labor and housekeeping duties, including sweeping, shoveling, cleanup, and material handling.
  • Cross-train, assist other teammates, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

What We're Looking For:

Required:

• - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.
• - Ability to interact effectively with a diverse customer base.
• - Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• - Ability to operate essential equipment such as a forklift or bobcat.
• - Ability to direct truck and peddler traffic to proper processing locations.
• - Ability to stand or walk for up to 10 hours per day.
• - Reliable and dependable attendance.
• - Flexibility to work overtime and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred:

• - 1 year of previous general labor and/or customer service experience.
• - Previous scrap metal or industrial experience is a plus.
