Description

Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Production III for their Redford, MI location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personal grievances.
  • Set and monitor product standards to ensure quality finished products.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
 
Requirements:
  • Verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required, preferably in a plant or manufacturing environment (not required – any supervisory experience is applicable)
  • Experience working in a UAW facility is a plus — this person will be supervising UAW employees and must be comfortable navigating that environment professionally
  • Automotive or heavy manufacturing background is preferred
  • Familiarity with part numbers and automotive components is helpful
  • Though the manager did say that this can be learned on the job/trained
  • GM or other OEM experience is ideal for candidates coming from another automotive company (not required)
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel preferred
  • People-oriented leader with the ability to manage, motivate, and hold accountable a large hourly workforce (30+)
  • Comfortable diffusing conflict, addressing employee concerns, and maintaining composure in a high-pressure, fast-paced plant environment
