Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position manages a team of three Production Control professionals and two Purchasing professionals.

The supervisor integrates customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and supplier commitments into achievable production plans. The role partners with Engineering, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Quality, and support functions to resolve constraints, support schedule execution, and improve operational performance through effective communication, employee development, and disciplined use of SYSPRO.

    Key Responsibilities

Maintain schedule integrity, adjust schedules in response to changes in demand, capacity, or priorities, and coordinate changes that support customer delivery commitments.

    • Capacity Planning and Manufacturing Coordination: Evaluate production demand against available labor, equipment, tooling, and work-center capacity. Partner closely with manufacturing leadership through regular floor coordination to assess schedule performance, address bottlenecks, and develop recovery plans while maintaining achievable workloads.

    • Purchasing and Material Readiness: Support the purchasing team in achieving supplier delivery commitments and material readiness for on-time production starts. Ensure buyers have the information, resources, and cross-functional support needed to perform their responsibilities effectively. Monitor material risks and supplier performance, remove barriers, and drive escalated shortages, discrepancies, and outside-processing delays to resolution. Coach the team on purchasing controls and accurate SYSPRO records, and use performance data to improve processes, communication, and material flow.

    • Cross Functional Leadership: Serve as the principal liaison among Production Control, Purchasing, Engineering, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Quality, Receiving, Warehouse, and operational support teams. Maintain effective material flow, facilitate timely resolution of technical and scheduling issues, coordinate ship-date requests and updates, and communicate production status, delivery risks, decisions, corrective actions, and recovery plans.

    • Systems and Performance Management: Manage consistent use of SYSPRO and established planning and purchasing procedures. Maintain reliable planning data, establish and track department KPI targets, analyze performance trends, and present operational risks and improvement priorities to leadership.

    • People Leadership and Development: Assign work and manage team performance, priorities, resource allocation, and accountability. Coach and mentor employees, provide training and cross-training, and establish consistent work practices that strengthen sound decision-making, collaboration, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and departmental effectiveness.

    • Quality and Continuous Improvement: Lead improvements in planning accuracy, schedule reliability, material flow, purchasing effectiveness, and communication. Apply Lean principles and root-cause analysis to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce delays, recurring errors, and process waste, and support corrective actions for recurring NCRs and quality issues while maintaining alignment with applicable AS9100, ISO, customer, and company requirements.
