Production Control Specialist (II, III, and Senior)Client: Blue Origin
Location: Cape Canaveral, FL
Openings: 19
Pay Range: $30-72/hr plus overtime (range depends on shift and seniority)
Type: 1-year contract (conversion to FTE possible but not guaranteed)
Shifts: A, C, and D shifts available (most openings are A shift)
About the RoleBlue Origin's Production Control team is scaling to meet a significant increase in work order volume to support New Glenn rate production. These roles are a dedicated surge and clean-up function supporting the core team of full-time Production Control Specialists.
You'll attack the backlog: aged and idle work orders, MRP data integrity issues, and kitted parts stuck in stalled orders. You'll also cover work centers day to day where needed, provide expedite support on hot jobs, and support off-shift coverage so the full-time team can stay focused on schedule execution. If you like working through a large, messy backlog with clear metrics and a defined end date, this role is built for that.
Space or aerospace experience is not required. Hands-on ERP experience is.
What You'll Do- Drive down the work order backlog by dispositioning idle and no-need-date orders, resolving kitted-but-stalled part numbers, and closing out orders
- Expedite hot jobs by identifying material and kit needs and clearing blockers across service centers and integrated areas to prevent schedule slip
- Support off-nominal shift coverage (B/C/D) as needed, handling routine escalations and keeping WIP moving when coverage is thin
- Maintain MRP/ERP data integrity
- Communicate daily status on backlog burn-down, expedite jobs in flight, and shift hand-offs to Production Control leads
- Flag recurring constraints and blockers to area leads and leadership so root causes get addressed
- Partner with the full-time Production Control team and take on standing work center ownership where needed
- Once the backlog is cleared, support other work centers while keeping technical debt low in your assigned area
What You Bring- Experience with schedule management, expediting, or backlog/data clean-up in a manufacturing or production environment
- Hands-on, transaction-level experience in an ERP/MRP system (SAP, Costpoint, or similar). You're comfortable working directly in the data, not just reading dashboards
- Ability to work independently on a defined backlog with minimal ramp-up in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Willingness to support off-nominal shifts and overtime as coverage gaps come up
Nice to Have- Prior backlog remediation, data clean-up, or expedite work (beyond steady-state scheduling)
- MS Office, including MS Project
- Jira or similar ticketing tools, and familiarity with AI tools
- Experience in both development and production manufacturing environments
- Aerospace or automotive production experience
Shift Schedules- A Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Production Control II, III, and Senior)
- C Shift: [Add hours]
- D Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM (Senior)
