Job Description:

The Production Assistant supports daily operations throughout our facility by helping prepare equipment and parts for shipment, assisting with machine assembly, and maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work environment. This hands-on role works closely with Production, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments to keep materials moving, support production needs, and ensure equipment and parts are ready when needed. Responsibilities also include assisting with inventory organization, operating material-handling equipment, and coordinating local vendor pickups and deliveries.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare & Ship Equipment: Clean, inspect, and package equipment for shipment while following established shipping standards and checklists. Build skids and crates, assemble spare parts orders, and help meet daily and weekly shipping schedules.
• Support Production & Assembly: Assist technicians with machine sub-assemblies and other production tasks as needed. Assemble parts orders, follow work instructions, and help maintain quality standards.
• Operate Equipment & Maintain Safety: Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed. Complete and document daily equipment safety inspections, maintain forklift and scissor lift batteries, and ensure propane tanks are filled.
• Coordinate Vendor & Material Deliveries: Pick up and deliver parts to local vendors, maintain accurate delivery and transaction records, and safely load and unload incoming and outgoing freight.
• Maintain a Clean & Organized Facility: Keep shop areas, production floors, and workspaces clean and organized. Complete routine custodial duties, including emptying garbage and recycling bins and operating the floor scrubber for weekly shop cleaning.
• Assist Across Departments: Provide support to Shipping, Receiving, the Stockroom, and Production as needed, including sorting incoming materials, organizing inventory, and helping ensure parts and equipment are available when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to safely operate a company vehicle for local deliveries.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with common applications.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
• Ability to safely handle materials and follow established safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
• Willingness to assist with various production, shipping, receiving, and facility tasks as needed.

Desired Skills

• Forklift operator certification (training can be provided).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, or production environment.
• Experience with material handling, inventory organization, or equipment preparation.
