Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney's linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney's media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney's EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Job Summary:

The position is for a Full Stack Software Engineer who will contribute to both backend and frontend development, implementing high-performance applications and seamless user interfaces that deliver Disney's content to audiences worldwide

In this role, you will build scalable solutions and collaborate closely with management, business partners, engineering teams, product, and create innovative and engaging viewing experiences. Your work will support streaming, digital products, advertising, and content distribution.

You will participate in code reviews, champion engineering best practices, and uphold high standards for architecture, performance, security, accessibility, and code quality. You will also help ensure that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reliable across the team.

The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Vue.js or React, along with a passion for building high-quality, scalable digital experiences.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

• Develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications across both backend and frontend systems supporting Disney's digital platforms.
• Build robust Java Spring Boot services and APIs alongside modern VueJS based user interfaces to deliver seamless, user-centric experiences.
• Partner closely with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions. Ensure alignment with architectural standards, security, and best practices across the full stack. Drive code quality through reviews, and consistent development practices.
• Optimize system performance and reliability by implementing efficient data processing, caching, asynchronous workflows, and modern state management techniques. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, continuously improving system scalability, latency, and stability.
• Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring. Contribute to evolving engineering practices by adopting new technologies, tools, and frameworks across both backend and frontend ecosystems.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of full-stack development experience with strong hands-on Java, Spring Boot, and Vue.js or React experience.
• Proven experience building scalable, high-performance backend and frontend solutions for distributed concurrent applications.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and UI components.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and Vue.js or React.
• Solid understanding of microservices, dependency injection, application of lifecycle management, and frontend state/component management.
• Knowledge of backend and frontend performance optimization, including caching, asynchronous processing, connection pooling, lazy loading, and code splitting.
• Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams and contributing through code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with developers, designers, product managers, and QA.
• Ability to translate business and design requirements into scalable, performant, and maintainable solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and messaging technologies such as Kafka and Redis.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, and code quality.
• Familiarity with AWS CloudFront and S3.
• Knowledge of streaming workflows, video delivery, or media distribution.
• Experience in the media or entertainment industry.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

The hiring range for this position in New York, New York is $123,000 - $165,000 per year and in Bristol, CT $117,500 - $157,500. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
