Description

Product Safety Engineer

We're recruiting for a Product Safety Engineer at an established wireless testing and certification lab in the East Bay. You'd be the go-to safety expert on a small, flat engineering team: running electrical and medical product safety evaluations, reviewing constructions and critical components, and working directly with customers to resolve findings. You'll also sit alongside the RF/EMC engineers and cross-train into those areas, which most pure safety seats never offer. This is a real ownership seat, not a cog-in-the-machine role.

Title: Product Safety Engineer

Location: Pleasanton, CA, fully on-site, 5 days/week

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 base depending on experience + benefits (medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with employer contribution, PTO, paid holidays)

Must-Haves:

  • Hands-on product safety testing experience in a testing/certification lab (or a pure safety lab), roughly 2+ years
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety (EN/IEC 62368-1) and/or medical electrical equipment safety (60601)
  • Experience with test planning, schematic/BOM/construction review, and technical report writing
  • Self-starter who can own product safety independently and communicate findings clearly to customers
  • Genuine interest in cross-training into RF and EMC testing
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Fully on-site, commutable to Pleasanton

Strong Pluses:

  • RF, wireless, or EMC exposure (including 60601-1-2)
  • NRTL or CB Scheme experience
  • ISO/IEC 17025 lab familiarity
  • FCC or ISED workflow knowledge
  • Python or LabVIEW test automation

Must be authorized to work in the US with no near-term visa expiration. Unable to provide new sponsorship at this time.
