Product Quality Engineer
Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Mon-Fri 7am-3: 30pm;OT is not always required but when its available the hours are typically 6a-4: 30p Mon-Fri and Sat from 6a-11a

Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on
Product Quality Engineer to support product quality and Quality Management System requirements within a manufacturing environment. This contract to hire position works closely with the shop floor to ensure products, processes, and works closely with the shop floor to ensure products, processes, and documentation meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Product Quality Engineer will partner with Production, Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain on inspections, nonconformances, corrective actions, supplier quality, process improvements, and compliance with
AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Product Quality & Inspection
Perform and support incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and portable CMM/FARO equipment.
Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, purchase orders, and customer requirements.
Review drawings and specifications, including GD&T, to ensure requirements are appropriate and achievable within manufacturing capabilities.
Review material certifications, outside processing certifications, inspection records, and related quality documentation.
Support calibration activities and verify measurement and test equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
Identify, document, segregate, and support disposition of nonconforming materials, products, and processes.
Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and drive timely closure of NCRs.
Lead and support root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
Verify corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
Identify recurring quality issues and recommend improvements to reduce defects and prevent recurrence.
Support RMA activities and resolution of customer quality concerns.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
Support compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality procedures.
Incorporate quality requirements into inspection plans, process controls, and manufacturing activities.
Track, analyze, and report quality KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
Participate in customer, supplier, and internal quality audits.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Serve as backup to the Quality Manager for work order and purchase order reviews and approvals.
Supplier & Manufacturing Quality
Support supplier evaluations, audits, performance monitoring, and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
Partner directly with Production and Engineering to troubleshoot manufacturing and product quality issues.
Provide quality support for machining, welding, fabrication, forming, assembly, finishing, and inspection operations.
Support new product introductions, process development, equipment selection, and qualification activities.
Represent customer quality requirements across internal teams and manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline;equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience working within an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System.
Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection principles.
Knowledge of machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, and related manufacturing processes.
Experience investigating nonconformances and participating in root cause and corrective action activities.
Experience with precision measurement equipment.
Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Gas turbine, power generation, and/or rotating equipment experience.
Experience using portable CMM/FARO measurement equipment.
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and the Autodesk Design Suite.
Experience with multi-level Bills of Material (BOMs).
Supplier quality, SCAR, and supplier audit experience.
Experience supporting customer and regulatory audits.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a
hands-on Quality Engineer who is comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor, rather than working solely from an office. This individual can move easily between inspecting a component, reviewing a drawing, troubleshooting an issue with Production, investigating a nonconformance, and working with Engineering or suppliers on a permanent solution.
Success in this position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, an ownership mentality, and the ability to balance immediate production needs with long-term quality improvement.
Work Environment
This position operates across both office and manufacturing environments, with approximately
50% of the role involving walking throughout manufacturing operations. The employee may encounter noise, welding and fabrication operations, moving machinery, forklifts, electrical equipment, fumes, sparks, and other typical industrial conditions. Appropriate PPE is required where applicable.
The position also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical activities associated with hands-on manufacturing support. Some travel to supplier, customer, or installation sites may be required.
