    Job Description:Mopar Quality Engineer

    Position Summary


    The Mopar Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving product quality issues while driving continuous improvements in vehicle reliability, customer satisfaction, and warranty performance.
    The successful candidate will be a creative and proactive problem solver with a strong technical background in automotive engineering, manufacturing, quality systems, and service operations.

    This position requires a highly motivated, self-starting professional who can effectively lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and communicate technical solutions.
    The individual will work closely with Suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Service Operations, and Service organizations to improve product quality and reduce warranty costs throughout the product lifecycle.

    Key Focus Areas

    Field failure analysis, quality monitoring, and warranty cost reduction

    Assessment of production part changes and their impact on service parts and field performance

    Development and implementation of process improvements at supplier manufacturing and remanufacturing facilities

    Identify and communicate dealer process concerns, develop corrective action recommendations, and create or update field communications to improve service effectiveness, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

    Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

    Continuous improvement of product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction



    Key Responsibilities

    Monitor field quality, warranty, and customer feedback data to identify emerging issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions with Engineering, Manufacturing, Dealer Networks, Distribution, and Service Operations.

    Analyze field failures and warranty trends to identify opportunities for quality improvement and warranty cost reduction.

    Create, review, and publish Field Service Instructions, Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), STAR Online communications, and Master Technician publications to support field service and warranty issue resolution.

    Evaluate production part changes and assess their impact on service parts, field performance, and customer experience.

    Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing technical requirements, business objectives, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.

    Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal Engineering organizations to ensure the effective transfer of product knowledge, technical expertise, and design information to service and support organizations.

    Participate in technical discussions and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Service Operations, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Program Management to drive issue resolution and continuous improvement.

    Develop and maintain strong relationships with supplier organizations to ensure manufacturing process control, product quality, and compliance with engineering and customer requirements.

    Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and support corrective action activities that drive defect reduction and process improvement.

    Recommend, implement, and validate process improvements at supplier manufacturing and remanufacturing locations to improve product quality and reliability.



    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or equivalent technical experience.

    Minimum of five (5) years of Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related automotive experience.

    Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, and manufacturing of automotive systems and components, including quality and reliability considerations.

    Proficiency in structured root cause analysis methodologies, including 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Red X, and other systematic problem-solving techniques.

    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret field, warranty, and quality data and develop effective corrective actions.

    Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

    Ability to travel domestically as required.



    Preferred Qualifications

    Master's degree in engineering, Quality, Business, or a related technical discipline.

    Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

    Minimum of two (2) years of direct manufacturing experience.

    Minimum of two (2) years of Design Release Engineering experience.

    Proven track record of improving product quality, customer satisfaction, and warranty performance.

    Extensive experience with Stellantis systems, processes, and cross-functional business operations, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Service, and Supplier Management.

    Demonstrated experience in warranty analytics, field quality monitoring, and the development of corrective actions that improve product reliability and reduce warranty costs.

    Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and IATF 16949 quality management systems.

    Ability to analyze large data sets, identify quality trends, quantify business impacts, and develop data-driven recommendations for management decision-making.

    Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
    Strong continuous improvement experience.
    Strong root cause analysis skills.
    Excellent communication skills.
    Any Engineering degree is acceptable.
    Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience is required.
    Strong data analysis and decision-making skills. Specific data analysis systems can be trained.
    Candidates with more than 5 years of experience are welcome.
    Candidates without direct warranty experience can be considered if they have strong Quality Engineering experience.
    Some local travel within the Detroit region may be required.
    5 days onsite, 8 hours per day.
