Product Owner

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to guide product vision, backlog priorities, and feature delivery within an Agile development environment. This role serves as a key connection point between customers, business stakeholders, sponsors, and development teams, ensuring that product decisions align with business objectives and user needs.

The Product Owner will understand the customer, market, business domain, and different user perspectives to determine which capabilities and features provide the greatest value. The ideal candidate is an engaged, collaborative leader who can translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable priorities while balancing competing requirements, dependencies, timelines, and strategic objectives.

Duties

• Own and communicate the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and priorities.

• Manage and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, customer needs, dependencies, risks, and strategic objectives.

• Collaborate closely with customers, users, stakeholders, sponsors, and development teams to define product requirements and desired functionality.

• Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear, actionable priorities, user stories, features, and development queues.

• Determine which features and capabilities should be included in product releases based on customer needs, business priorities, and available resources.

• Balance competing requirements, dependencies, and priorities across multiple projects while maintaining alignment with the overall product strategy.

• Facilitate communication and coordination between business stakeholders, client resources, users, and development teams.

• Ensure management, stakeholders, and sponsors remain informed of product direction, priorities, progress, and key decisions.

• Clearly communicate the business value and expected benefits of the overall product and individual features.

• Work closely with development teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure requirements and priorities are understood.

• Remain actively engaged and available to the development team, providing direction and making timely decisions to keep work moving forward.

• Acknowledge and respond to team questions while supporting creativity, collaboration, and effective problem-solving.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and apply appropriate Agile practices to support effective product delivery.

• Use JIRA or similar tools to manage backlogs, roadmaps, priorities, and work queues.

• Use Confluence or similar tools for product documentation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

• Identify and resolve product, requirement, priority, and dependency issues.

• Continuously evaluate user and market needs and adjust product priorities as appropriate.

• Help ensure delivered products and features meet customer expectations and provide meaningful business value.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

• Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar product management role within an Agile environment.

• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and/or SAFe.

• Experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs.

• Proficiency with JIRA or a similar Agile project and backlog management platform.

• Experience with Confluence or similar documentation and knowledge-sharing tools.

• Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable priorities and development work.

• Strong understanding of requirements analysis, prioritization, dependencies, and product strategy.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and coordination abilities.

• Ability to work effectively with customers, business stakeholders, client resources, sponsors, and software development teams.

• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects while maintaining focus on strategic objectives.

• Ability to make sound product decisions based on customer needs, business value, user requirements, and technical considerations.

• Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle.

• Demonstrated ability to remain actively engaged with development teams and provide timely direction and clarification.

• Experience working in a SAFe environment.

• Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps.

• Experience working with commercial software, enterprise applications, internal business systems, hardware products, or other complex products.

• Experience gathering and analyzing customer and user feedback to influence product decisions.

• Experience communicating product strategy and business value to executive leadership and sponsors.

• Experience working across multiple development teams or complex product portfolios.

• Experience with release planning and feature prioritization.

• Familiarity with software development processes and technical concepts sufficient to collaborate effectively with development teams.
