    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday. 7.5-hour workday with .5-hour unpaid lunch. Paid for actual time worked; there are no paid vacation or sick days. During NYPA and Canals holidays, the business is closed, and no work is permitted. NYPA requires a hybrid schedule of a minimum of 3 days on-site, up to including fully on-site depending on department requirements.

    CWPO Engagement Requirements

    Candidates are REQUIRED to be local to the Tri-State area and in W2 tax status as an hourly paid employee of Service Provider.
    Fully remote positions are prohibited. Hybrid schedules are permissible with a minimum of 3 days on-site depending on assignment and can be fully on-site depending on business needs. Remote work privileges can be revoked at any time.
    NYPA does not provide laptops. Instead, NYPA provides desktops and dedicated workstations which candidates will remote into from their personal equipment on virtual days.
    If candidate does not have proper equipment, internet connection, or he/she is deemed to not work effectively from home, the hybrid privilege will be revoked.
    Vendors must disclose foreign national status and all Visas at the time of candidate submission. Additionally, a Benefits Waiver and Ethics Disclosure will be required of the candidate during onboarding.

    Project Overview

    The IT Product Manager will work in close collaboration with Business Stakeholders, to guide the development and implementation of technology (tools & services); shifting innovative technology ideas into operational reality. They will establish strong relationships with Business Product Owners to understand Business objectives, provide guidance and direction on how technology can help the Business reach its' goals, and translate Business Product Owners' vision into Product Roadmaps. The IT Product Manager will ensure alignment between the Business and IT, ensure execution of efficient processes, evaluate costs, and champion effective governance. The IT Product Manager will need a good understanding of IT tools, trends & concepts; work experience in IT product management (or closely related, transferrable area); a strong ability to develop trusting relationships; and the ability to influence without formal authority. They will need to motivate project teams, use creative problem solving, and demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence. As the technology landscape continues to evolve, the IT Product Manager should have a strong desire for continuous learning, with a focus on continuous improvement, exhibiting resilience, curiosity and a positive outlook.

    Job Functions & Responsibilities

    • Lead the design process of complex digital product deployment plans, working with all functions including the Digital Transformation Office, and other enterprise functions (internal and external Centers of Excellence) to ensure proper business direction and solutions to realize the Digital Utility objectives.
    • Provide guidance on the techniques and tools to use and achieve product goals on time and on cost, while managing product risk.
    • Act as escalation point for key product issues.
    • Provide input into recommendations for resource allocation across Functional Organizations to achieve product objectives.
    • Establish key relationships with internal constituents including the Digital Transformation Office, and other enterprise functions (internal and external Centers of Excellence) to ensure proper business direction and solutions to realize the Digital Utility objectives.
    • Provide input into the rationalization of product portfolios and prioritization of investments to improve efficiency.
    • Monitor product O&M and Capital spend to ensure planned resources are available to meet product goals.
    • Develop and plan resource allocation and distribution, including employees, equipment, and other resources.

    Skills

    • Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes.
    • Ability to analyze the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and be able to recommend solutions for improvement.
    • Understanding business goals and objectives as they relate to customer use cases and solutions.
    • Able to develop an implementation plan for product development/integration based on business requirements and I.T. strategies.
    • Understanding of the IT Industry trends and tools as they apply to NYPA business and processes.
    • Able to balance the long-term ( "big picture ") and short-term implications of individual decisions.
    • Ability to identify and implement practical technical solutions within acceptable business value parameters and cost/benefit determinations.
    • Knowledge of agile and waterfall product development, DevOps and SDLC methodologies/framework.

    Education & Certifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
    • May require certifications and licensures needed to meet Energy industry, federal, state, or local regulations.
    • Minimum 6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong knowledge of change management principles.
