Project Overview
The IT Product Manager will work in close collaboration with Business Stakeholders to guide the development and implementation of technology solutions (tools & services), transforming innovative technology ideas into operational reality. They will establish strong relationships with Business Product Owners to understand business objectives, provide guidance on how technology can help the business achieve its goals, and translate Business Product Owners' vision into Product Roadmaps.
The IT Product Manager will ensure alignment between Business and IT, drive execution of efficient processes, evaluate costs, and champion effective governance. The IT Product Manager should have a strong understanding of IT tools, trends, and concepts; experience in IT product management (or a closely related transferable area); strong relationship-building skills; and the ability to influence without formal authority.
The role requires the ability to motivate project teams, apply creative problem-solving techniques, demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, and maintain a continuous learning mindset focused on improvement, resilience, curiosity, and innovation as technology continues to evolve.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Lead the design process for complex digital product deployment plans, working with cross-functional teams including the Digital Transformation Office and other enterprise functions (internal and external Centers of Excellence) to ensure proper business alignment and solutions that support Client digital objectives.
- Provide guidance on techniques, tools, and best practices to achieve product goals on time and within budget while managing product risks.
- Act as an escalation point for key product-related issues.
- Provide recommendations for resource allocation across functional organizations to achieve product objectives.
- Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Digital Transformation teams, and enterprise functions to ensure proper business direction and successful technology solutions.
- Provide input into product portfolio rationalization and prioritization of investments to improve efficiency.
- Monitor product operational and capital spend to ensure planned resources are available to meet product goals.
- Develop resource allocation plans, including employees, equipment, and other resources required for successful product delivery.
Skills
- Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes.
- Ability to analyze the current IT environment, identify critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Understanding of business goals, objectives, customer use cases, and technology solutions.
- Ability to develop implementation plans for product development and integration based on business requirements and IT strategies.
- Strong understanding of IT industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic vision with short-term execution needs.
- Ability to identify and implement practical technical solutions within acceptable business value and cost-benefit parameters.
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall product development methodologies, DevOps practices, and SDLC frameworks.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
- Relevant certifications preferred based on industry requirements.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in IT product management, technology delivery, business transformation, or related areas.
- Strong knowledge of change management principles.
- Energy industry, federal, state, or local regulation preferred
