Our client is looking to hire a product engineer for their team in McConnelsville Ohio! Our client is a leader in developing and manufacturing high-precision, high-strength components for a wide range of industries.
The product engineer is responsible for leading technical development activities from initial concept through prototype and early production phases.
Qualified candidates for the product engineer would be experienced with parts design, manufacturability, customer requirements, cost analysis, feasibility studies, process development, and automotive core tools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and strengthen relationships with customer decision-makers and technical representatives.
- Identify customer buying influences and integrate them into project strategies.
- Implement the customer strategy
- Actively exchange technical information
- Identify trends and upcoming projects with customers.
- Support kick-off meetings for new product development (technical scope).
- Alert and update QUAM when customer-specific documentation changes occur.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies for new parts.
- Define materials required for new applications.
- Define production processes and support cost calculations for quotations.
- Develop process and production concepts during the quotation phase.
- Check and validate tolerances for manufacturing feasibility.
- Assess environmental and resource availability aspects.
- Start product development by assigning a development number.
- Use and update the technical database for documentation and tracking.
- Define functional specifications for new products.
- Prepare control plans for slug production and prototype manufacturing.
- Initiate equipment design activities during early development.
- Prepare work instructions for off-tool parts.
- Test prototypes and analyze performance.
- Compile setup documentation, dimensional sheets, and measurement data.
- Oversee or support production of off-tool parts.
- Identify and recommend potential external suppliers in collaboration with strategic unit.
- Participate in cost optimization activities and identify improvement opportunities.
Job Requirements:
- Technical engineering background (associate degree minimum; bachelor's preferred).
- Strong understanding of sintered part design, manufacturability, and customer requirements.
- Working knowledge of automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC).
- Experience with cost analysis, feasibility studies, and process development.
