 Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Emissions Lab Hardware Engineer to support critical emissions testing operations in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring regulatory compliance and data accuracy through hands-on troubleshooting, equipment calibration, and technical collaboration.

 What’s the Job?

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for emissions analytical benches, secondary sampling systems, and chassis dynamometers
  • Diagnose root causes of test anomalies before, during, and after emissions testing
  • Support setup, execution, and monitoring of emissions tests using primary and secondary sampling systems
  • Perform quality control checks, calibrations, verifications, and audits of emissions equipment
  • Analyze emissions and test data to validate compliance with regulatory and internal standards
  • Identify trends and investigate abnormal test behavior
  • Ensure proper function of sample handling systems (heated lines, filters, pumps, valves, flow controls)
  • Provide technical guidance to union technicians during maintenance and repair activities
  • Collaborate with technicians to determine repair strategies and verify corrective actions
  • Document calibrations, issues, root cause analyses, and test results per ISO 17025 standards
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes, equipment reliability, and data quality
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements

What’s Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with emissions analytical benches and secondary sampling equipment
  • Experience working with chassis dynamometers
  • Strong knowledge of emissions testing principles, sampling methods, and measurement systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently
  • Experience analyzing emissions/test data for compliance and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and test software
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized lab/test environment
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation diagrams
