Summary

This role is designed for experienced controls or electrical engineers looking to transition into a product-focused engineering career with a strong emphasis on drives, motors, and motion control systems. The Product Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert supporting product lifecycle activities including evaluation, introduction, and optimization of industrial technologies. This position offers a structured shift away from field-heavy engineering into a more stable, office-based role where technical expertise directly influences product strategy, supplier engagement, and roadmap development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical SME for variable frequency drives, AC/DC motors, and motion control systems

  • Evaluate and test new products and technologies from global suppliers

  • Support new product introduction (NPI), including documentation and training materials

  • Provide second-tier technical support during standard business hours

  • Collaborate with product managers and suppliers on product roadmap development

  • Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, CE, and other applicable regulatory standards

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve product quality, performance, and cost

  • Support cross-functional engineering teams in technical decision-making

  • Contribute to product lifecycle strategy and continuous improvement efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • 7–10+ years of experience in industrial automation, OEM, or controls engineering

  • Strong hands-on experience with drives, motors, and motion control systems

  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, or industrial control systems preferred

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as UL, CE, and CSA

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work independently in a structured engineering environment

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
