    At Ultralife, mechanical engineers are the bridge from concept to production. Your work in CAD and PDM will ensure our power, communications, and electronics solutions are robust, manufacturable, and reliable across defense, medical, industrial, energy, robotics, and safety markets worldwide.

    Why this role matters

    • Transform napkin sketches into released drawings and structured BOMs that flow cleanly into ERP.
    • Drive manufacturability by partnering with Development and Manufacturing Engineering on product and tooling designs.
    • Elevate quality with disciplined ASME Y14 practices, strong GD&T, and clear datum strategies.
    • Accelerate team throughput by checking peer drawings and mentoring co-ops.

    Core responsibilities

    • Create, modify, and control 2D/3D models and drawings in SolidWorks within a Product Data Management environment.
    • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials and release packages for production.
    • Apply common drafting practices; adhere to ASME Y14 standards on every print.
    • Use GD&T to define functional requirements and tolerance stack-ups.
    • Incorporate knowledge of plastic molding processes where advantageous.
    • Act as a resource for the team by reviewing drawings and guiding best practices.

    Tools and standards youll use

    • SolidWorks (primary); AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
    • PDM/PLM for revision control and release.
    • ASME Y14 and ISO documentation standards.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    What makes you successful here

    • BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred; 2 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Accredited credentials like CSWP are beneficial.
    • Experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
    • Self-directed, proactive, and collaborative; excellent communicator.
    • Creative, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
