    Description

    US Farathane is looking to grow our Design team and seeking a Product Designer, this role will sit on-site at our Corporate Tech Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work in both Catia v5 and 3DX Riche Client.
     
    Summary:
     
    The Product Designer must be able to create all CAD files using Catia V5/V6 to the customer standards. This position requires strong knowledge and experience in automotive interior and exterior plastic design. This includes injection molding, 2 shot injection molding, compression molding, extruded design and class 'A' surfacing. The position requires strong knowledge in navigating the 3DX Web Client to load Native CAD into 3DX database. They must be familiar with Ford’s standards and practices and are able to release math models and drawings into their database. Candidates must have the ability to work in both Catia v5 and 3DX Riche Client.
     
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
     
    • Maintain 3D math models, drawings and assemblies using Catia V5/3DEXPERIENCE software.
    • Interpret information from internal and customer engineering team (marked prints, sketches, Power Point) and apply it to the design.
    • Follow design direction and develop multiple design concepts in a short duration of time.
    • Apply customer's given standards and procedures within the part design for release into OEM's system.
    • Work directly with Engineering Team to ensure Body CAD requirements are met.
    • Communicate with Design Manager on project deliverables and timing.
    • Able to meet program design/drawing deliverable schedules.
    • Able to apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances to drawings.
    • Create math models using sketcher and parametric modeling.
    • Manage the Ford FDJ Release from start to finish.
    • Use Ford Teamcenter/3DX to release and store 3D data, GD&T 3D Annotation & 2D drawings.
    • Ability to navigate 3DX Web Client.
    • Able to load native CAD into the 3DX Web Client.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Associate’s degree in design technology, mechanical design or equivalent required (equivalent job experience will be considered).
    • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on, automotive product design.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience using Catia V5 software.
    • 1-5 years Catia V5 drawing experience.
    • Familiarity with Automotive OEM Global Requirements.
    • Able to create class 'A' surface from master sections, scans and surface.
    • Experience designing injection molded components with good understanding of backside lifter/slide design, 'A' surface graining and mold design associated to draft angle.
    • Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    • Ford WERS Trained (able to read a CN)
    • Familiarity with Ford Global Requirements.
    • Experience with Ford CAD & Drafting Standards.
    • Ford 3D EXPERIENCE Trained.
