Our Datacom and Specialty Solutions team designs an extensive product line serving customers in telecommunications, datacom, hyperscalers, data center and storage applications.

Molex is seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead a talented team of Mechanical Design Engineers in our industry leading high-speed connector and cable system product lines for our big data and hyperscale customers. These creative, high-tech, leading-edge components are critical for the existence of data superhighways we use every day and that are changing the world.

In this highly visible engineering position, you will lead a team of professionals who are passionate about delivering the best products to the market.

What You Will Do

  • Be a leader in a global organization designing and developing new products and components for the high-speed connector and cable industry.
  • Interface with professional cross functional team members in our signal integrity team, manufacturing integration team, program management, sales organization, state of the art test laboratories, high tech R&D model shop, manufacturing, and senior leadership teams.
  • Guide your teams design and develop of new internal connector products, including high speed connectors, and connector cable assemblies.
  • Collaborate with your team to develop cost competitive and creative designs with the signal integrity team and manufacturing that are efficient to manufacture while meeting our high-performance market requirements.
  • Develop product and application specifications documents for testing that meet our customer requirements and general market expectations.
  • With your team presenting concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for development of major new products through technical design reviews.
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality Assurance during product launches and have travel opportunities to visit our manufacturing sites and meet the global team.
  • Help lead the organization in identification, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies and methodologies to enable next generation products, improve costs and quality, as well as improve New Product Development (NPD) engineering processes.
  • Provide application and technical support to consolidate inputs from Marketing, customers, and external consultants into product concepts and detailed requirements.
  • Follow all product development steps from concept inception, refinement of detailed product design, supply tooling group models and drawings for quoting and tool build.
  • Collaborating to develop cost competitive and creative designs with the manufacturing, and signal integrity team that are efficient to manufacture while meeting our high-performance market requirements

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering related field
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and other concepts
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design and development
  • 2+ years of proven technical leadership (supervisory or mentorship) experience
  • Experience with product development in the electronics industry

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Siemens NX experience - Experience with advanced parametric 3D CAD systems
  • Design experience with high-speed, high-density connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect products
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency testing requirements (e.g., UL/CSA, NEBS, EMC/EMI requirements)

For this role, we anticipate paying $125,000-$150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
