About the Opportunity

Russell Tobin is supporting a leading global technology company in hiring a Product Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team focused on the design and development of retail fixtures and customer-facing display environments. This role is ideal for a creative mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex design challenges, collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, and bringing products from concept through manufacturing.

The team is responsible for developing high-quality retail display systems, furniture, and fixture solutions that balance aesthetics, safety, sustainability, reliability, and manufacturability across a large global retail network.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and engineer a variety of retail fixtures, display systems, tables, walls, and other mechanical assemblies.

  • Manage multiple fixture development projects simultaneously with international manufacturing partners and vendors.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to refine product aesthetics, customer experience, functionality, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Iterate and validate designs through prototyping, reliability testing, stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing data review.

  • Develop manufacturing processes and tooling solutions with external vendors.

  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and technical discussions while providing and incorporating constructive feedback.

  • Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to manufacturing partners and installation sites to support product development, validation, and root cause analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 7+ years of relevant product design or mechanical engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, solid mechanics, material properties, and structural behavior.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, or similar).

  • Familiarity with metal manufacturing, fabrication, and tooling development.

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), tolerance analysis, and root cause analysis.

  • Experience designing products for mass production or working with ODM/OEM manufacturing partners.

  • Backgrounds in consumer products, retail fixtures, furniture systems, industrial equipment, or other mechanically engineered products are highly valued, though candidates from other analytical engineering fields with strong engineering fundamentals are encouraged to apply.

Why Apply?

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to products that are experienced by customers across a global retail footprint while working alongside world-class engineering and manufacturing teams. The role offers exposure to product development, vendor collaboration, manufacturing, reliability engineering, and cross-functional design execution within a leading technology environment.
