    Position Summary

    The Product Design Engineer Intern will support the design and development of new products from idea to production. This role involves creating product designs, building prototypes, testing products, and working with teams across the company to ensure products meet quality, performance, and cost goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    Product Design & Development

    • Assist with designing new products and product improvements.
    • Create and update 3D models, drawings, and specifications using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Help evaluate product designs through calculations, prototypes, and testing.
    • Support compliance with customer and quality requirements.

    Testing & Manufacturing Support

    • Participate in product testing and validation activities.
    • Document test procedures and results.
    • Help with prototype builds and pre-production activities.
    • Assist in solving product design and manufacturing issues.

    Documentation & Continuous Improvement

    • Support efforts to improve product quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
    • Maintain technical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), test reports, and related documentation.
    • Help identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
    • Assist in protecting company intellectual property.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
    • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks (preferred), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
    • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM), 3D printing, or rapid prototyping is a plus.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

    Work Environment

    • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings.
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when working in production areas.
