Job Summary
This role provides ongoing operational support for a Grid Resiliency portfolio, managing PSPS application build in Foundry Palantir.
Key Responsibilities
Software Code Development, Code Management, and Reuse
- Implementing reusable transform logic and shared libraries.
- Managing version control, branching strategies, and code reviews.
- Ensuring code is optimized for Foundry's distributed execution environment.
- Applying best practices for maintainability and long-term reuse.
Implementation and/or Configuration of Palantir Software
- Pipeline and ETL maintenance process and quality control.
- Ontology maintenance, including access, change process, and governance.
Implementation and Integration Configuration of SaaS and Public Cloud-Based PaaS Solutions
- Development, configuration, integration, and support for supporting Application System components required to deliver business processes and functional (e.g., logical layers of databases, data marts, logical and physical data warehouses, middleware, configuration of analytics and BI reporting tools).
- Provide Foundry overall architectural governance expertise and guidance, including ontology design and governance, pipeline and DAG execution architecture, aligning with the client's standards.
- Application System configuration and collaboration with the infrastructure service provider are required to provide application access to external/third parties.
- Development, enhancement, integration, and maintenance of workshop, dashboard, pipeline builder, Quiver dashboard, automations, to ensure end-to-end business functionality is maintained.
- Collaboration with third-party providers such as infrastructure service providers and Edison enterprise public cloud providers.
- All activities required to support business processes and to deliver the required application and business functions to End Users in an integrated service delivery model across our enterprise support model (e.g., plan, deliver, run).
- Application Maintenance Services, including Major enhancements, new application system development, or system projects. The activities associated with maintaining and repairing existing Application System errors, defects, bugs, routine operations (e.g., break/fix services, patch releases to address multiple known errors, defects, or bugs), or developing and deploying Enhancements in accordance with approved Services.
- Document and maintain methodologies, policies, processes, OLAs, and operational interaction models and RACIs for the parties involved in the ADM activities.
- Achieve the Service Levels and receive Services in accordance with the mandated PSPS wildfire guidelines and CPUC guidelines.
- Must support the underlying compute agents, hosting infrastructure, and operational services required for Palantir Foundry to run reliably.
- Must possess Palantir Foundry architecture expertise, including ontology design and governance, pipeline and DAG execution architecture, application and hosting infrastructure, integration patterns, and deployment lifecycle management to safely modify, enhance, or re-architect existing Foundry deployments without disrupting ontology-aligned data flows or downstream applications.
- Deliver agile Application maintenance Services, ensuring consistency and integration between Agile/DevOps service delivery methods across plan, deliver, and run phases.
- Expertise to optimize the operation and functionality of the Application Systems.
- Drive continual Application System portfolio optimization/rationalization.
- Must be able to use Foundry's Resource Management application to analyze compute consumption, pipeline execution cost, storage utilization, and workload efficiency, and must provide accurate cost calculations and optimization recommendations based on Foundry's native resource tracking capabilities.
Required Skills
Technical
- Software engineering experience.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals with depth in data platforms.
- Experience designing and maintaining applications.
- Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
- Understanding of data pipeline architecture.
- Familiarity with Palantir Foundry.
- Ability to own technical outcomes end-to-end without close supervision.
- Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotation, including occasional off-hours response.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive post-incident improvements.
- Experience with front-end design (Palantir Foundry Workshop preferred).
Operational
- Experience in making architectural trade-off decisions.
- Ability to identify risks early and escalate appropriately.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder updates.
- Comfortable working through ambiguous problems in live production environments.
- Ability to communicate incident status clearly to stakeholders.
- Comfortable making high-stakes decisions under time pressure.
- Experience in complex operational workflows with tight support timelines.
Preferred Skills
Technical
- Experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Experience with Python for data processing and pipeline development.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including frameworks like Spark or Polars.
- Experience with Foundry Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, or Data Connection.
- Familiarity with Ontology design and object-based data modelling.
- Understanding of data lineage and impact analysis.
- Ability to troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance issues.
- Experience translating business logic into pipeline implementations.
- Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotation, including occasional off-hours response.
- Ability to assess the downstream impact of data issues and communicate appropriately.
- Business Functional Knowledge/Utility experience (great resiliency focus).
