Product Data Management (PDM) Specialist

Role Summary

The PDM / Document Control Specialist will serve as the central owner of HSIO’s engineering and project documentation ecosystem, establishing a cohesive, scalable framework that supports efficient execution across all programs. This role is responsible for defining and maintaining standardized documentation structures, templates, and naming conventions while managing Windchill PLM and related tools (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform tools, Teams) to align seamlessly with business operations. By driving consistency, improving document lifecycle management, and enhancing traceability, the specialist enables stronger knowledge retention, streamlined collaboration, and improved accessibility of critical information. Additionally, this role will train and empower cross-functional teams to effectively adopt and sustain best practices. Through dedicated ownership and governance, the position strengthens audit readiness, reinforces customer confidence, and allows engineering and program teams to focus on delivering high-value outcomes

Key Responsibilities – Product Data & Configuration Management

- Align and develop tools and processes (PLM, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) with how the business operates.

- Drive conformity across all HSIO programs and teams.
- Train and enable users to follow standards effectively.
- Identify and fix systemic causes of nonconformity.

- Define and maintain standard documentation structures, templates, and naming conventions.
- Develop and drive SOPs implementation for data management processes.
- Integrate systems across multiple global locations
- Manage engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation within Windchill PDM
- Ensure proper revision control, lifecycle states, release status, and full auditability
- Maintain product structures, metadata, classifications, and naming standards
- Develop work stream mapping of current processes
- Audit engineering data to ensure it is accurate, complete, and fit for downstream use

PDM Systems & IT Partnership

- Serve as a Windchill PDM subject-matter expert
- Collaborate with IT on system configuration, upgrades, and validation
- Translate engineering and business needs into system workflows

Workflow, Automation & Visibility

-Drive engineering efficiency through process integration.

- Build workflows using Power Apps and Power Automate to support team’s need

- Develop dashboards and reports for change status, throughput, and data quality

Documentation, Training & Governance

- Develop PDM standards, procedures, and user documentation
- Train engineering and cross-functional users on tools and processes
- Support digital thread and lifecycle maturity initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Systems, Quality, Operations, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years’ experience in Product Lifecycle Management, Document Control, Engineering Operations, or Technical Program Support within an engineering-focused organization
• Hands-on experience with PDM/PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
• Experience working with engineering drawings and CAD data
• Strong understanding of revision control, configuration management, and ECR/ECN workflows
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, IT, manufacturing, and sales
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes of nonconformity and implement systemic corrective actions
• Ability to travel internationally on a limited basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Windchill administration or configuration experience
• SolidWorks experience generating relationships in assemblies and between parts and drawings
• Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Power Platform tools
• BOM management or ERP integration experience
• Demonstrated experience establishing and enforcing documentation standards, not just maintaining documents
• Strong working knowledge of PLM systems, SharePoint, and document management tools, including version control, access control, and lifecycle states
• Experience training engineers and program teams on tools, processes, and documentation best practices
• Experience supporting quality systems, audits, or customer documentation requirements
• Experience creating templates, SOPs, and governance models that scale with business growth
• Prior ownership of PLM or document system rollout, restructuring, or optimization
