Produce Merchandiser – Job Description
Hours: 6am-2:30pm, Days off will be Tuesday or Thursday and Sunday
Pay: 18.50-22.50 DOE
About the role
Love grocery? Have an eye for a great display? A family-owned produce distributor with 70+ years in the business is hiring a full-time Produce Merchandiser to support produce departments in military commissary stores.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. You'll be working at a grocery store on a military base, building eye-catching displays, training store associates, and helping each produce department hit its sales goals. It's a great fit for someone from grocery or high-volume retail who brings a positive attitude, creativity, and a go-above-and-beyond work ethic.
What you'll do
- Build and refresh displays: set up seasonal resets, secondary displays, case lot sales, and cross-merchandising with other departments.
- Train store teams: coach produce associates on display techniques, rotation, culling, sanitation, and ordering.
- Partner with store leadership: meet weekly with the store director and produce manager about upcoming ads, holidays, demos, and new seasonal products.
- Plan orders: help the produce manager set order quantities for weekly ads, farmers markets, sampling, and special events, and send weekly ad estimates to the purchasing team.
- Run promotions: coordinate product, displays, and coupons for cross-promotions with grocery vendors, and help store teams compete in produce contests.
- Keep stores stocked with marketing materials: deliver and maintain signage, point-of-sale materials, and recipe cards.
- Report on your work: submit weekly and monthly reports on store visits, training, store conditions, events, and goals met, using your smartphone.
