From our St. Louis roots, our 400+ teammates design, install, monitor, and service integrated fire & life safety, security, communications, and audiovisual systems across the Midwest and Colorado, helping customers work smarter, feel safer, and collaborate more effectively.POSITION SUMMARYThe Procurement Specialist I supports Tech Electronics' supply chain by sourcing and purchasing the materials, parts, and supplies needed to deliver fire and life safety, security, and communications projects across the Midwest and Colorado. Working within established guidelines, this role places purchase orders, negotiates pricing and delivery terms with vendors, and coordinates stock to meet project timelines. The position helps keep field teams equipped and installations on schedule, supporting the company's mission to build technologies that connect and protect.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProcures materials, parts, and supplies required for Tech Electronics installations, service work, and inventory replenishment.Prepares, places, and tracks purchase orders with approved vendors, confirming quantities, pricing, and delivery dates.Negotiates pricing, discounts, and terms with vendors in accordance with company purchasing guidelines and budget expectations.Allocates incoming stock to the appropriate due dates and projects to ensure prompt, reliable delivery to internal and external customers.Coordinates with project managers, technicians, and warehouse staff to align material availability with jobsite schedules.Monitors order status and expedites shipments to prevent delays that could affect field installation or service commitments.Maintains and updates procurement records, purchase order details, and vendor information within company systems.Prepares reports for inventory analysis, material usage, and quality tracking to support measurement of failures and cost trends.Resolves discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, damaged goods, and returns with vendors and internal stakeholders.Researches alternate sources and substitute products to address shortages, lead-time issues, and cost-saving opportunities.Supports vendor relationships by communicating requirements clearly and following up on open orders and commitments.Assists in maintaining accurate inventory levels and reorder points to balance availability against carrying costs.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Two years of experience working with computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications.Experience placing purchase orders, working with vendors, or performing related procurement or purchasing tasks.Ability to read and interpret purchase requisitions, material lists, and delivery requirements.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling orders, records, and reports.SKILLS & COMPETENCIESStrong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing and delivery terms.Effective written and verbal communication with vendors and internal teams.Organizational skills to manage multiple purchase orders and priorities simultaneously.Analytical ability to review inventory, usage, and quality data and identify trends.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for reporting and analysis.Problem-solving skills to resolve order discrepancies and material shortages.Ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet project timelines.Sound judgment in applying purchasing guidelines and prioritizing time-sensitive orders.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and talk or hear, and is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.The employee must exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Specific vision abilities required include clarity of vision at 20 feet or more as well as 20 inches or less.Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard business equipment.Occasional travel or visits to warehouse or jobsite locations may be required.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERTech Electronics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
