Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support procurement and supply chain activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials and services to ensure an uninterrupted supply to manufacturing operations while supporting cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and working capital objectives.

The Procurement Specialist will work closely with Production Planning, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Procurement teams to execute sourcing strategies, manage supplier performance, identify and mitigate supply risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong purchasing and procurement experience within manufacturing, excellent supplier management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and supply chain optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supply Management

• Execute procurement activities for assigned direct materials, packaging materials, indirect spend categories, and services.
• Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders and manage end-to-end procurement transactions within SAP.
• Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively identify and address potential supply risks.
• Partner with planning and operations teams to resolve material shortages, delivery delays, and capacity constraints.
• Support appropriate inventory levels while balancing production requirements, customer service, and working capital objectives.

Supplier Management

• Manage day-to-day relationships and communication with assigned suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance across key metrics, including:
• On-Time Delivery (OTD)
• Quality
• Lead-time adherence
• Responsiveness
• Cost competitiveness

Participate in supplier performance reviews and support corrective action plans when necessary. Identify and escalate supply risks and assist in developing mitigation plans to maintain business continuity. Build collaborative supplier relationships that support manufacturing and supply chain objectives.

Cost & Contract Management

• Support strategic sourcing initiatives and cost-reduction projects.
• Request supplier quotations and perform commercial evaluations.
• Participate in supplier negotiations in partnership with Procurement and Supply Chain leadership.
• Support payment-term optimization initiatives.
• Ensure contract pricing, purchasing terms, and related procurement information are accurately maintained within company systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost effectiveness without compromising quality or service.

Inventory & Working Capital Management

• Collaborate with production planning and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels.
• Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory risks.
• Support inventory-reduction initiatives while maintaining production requirements and customer service levels.
• Monitor supplier lead times and minimum order quantity (MOQ) requirements and evaluate their impact on inventory performance.

SAP & Process Excellence

• Maintain accurate procurement master data, including:
• Vendor records
• Pricing information
• Supplier lead times
• Procurement parameters

Support SAP implementation, optimization, and process-standardization initiatives. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, approval requirements, and audit standards. Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities within procurement processes and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3-7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, materials management, or supply chain.
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Experience working with international suppliers and global supply networks.
• SAP ERP experience preferred.
• Experience supporting sourcing, supplier management, and inventory optimization initiatives.

Preferred Skills

• Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of supplier management, inventory control, material planning, and MRP.
• Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Excel for procurement management and data analysis.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Experience supporting cost-savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with SAP implementation or process-improvement projects is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
