    Description

    Procurement Specialist

At Gables Engineering (a HEICO Company), we’ve been engineering the avionics systems pilots trust since 1946. We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to plan complex, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), analyze MRP requirements, and manage the procurement activities that keep our production lines supplied on time. This is a technical buying role: we’re looking for someone who analyzes purchasing requirements and makes informed decisions, not someone who simply processes system-generated requisitions.

    About Gables Engineering:

Founded in 1946, Gables Engineering is a leader in avionics controls and advanced cockpit solutions. Based in Coral Gables, FL, and a proud HEICO Company, we partner with airlines and OEMs worldwide to deliver tailored, next-generation avionics technology.

    What You’ll Do:

As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll be responsible for supplier management, RFQs, price negotiations, purchase order management, and delivery follow-up, while supporting cost reduction, lead-time improvements, and supply chain efficiency. You’ll work primarily in an office environment with regular time on the manufacturing floor, in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Planning and Procurement

    ● Plan complex, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), review MRP demand and planning parameters, and align material requirements with production needs.

    ● Select approved suppliers and manufacturer parts, request and evaluate quotations, and negotiate pricing and terms as needed.

    ● Issue purchase orders and verify their accuracy before submitting them to suppliers.

    ● Create new purchased-part records and maintain accurate part parameters.

    Order and Delivery Management

    ● Monitor open purchase order reports to support on-time delivery and identify potential delays early.

    ● Coordinate closely with Production Planners to ensure components are delivered on schedule.

    ● Keep the Purchasing Manager informed of late deliveries, quality issues, and other critical supply chain concerns.

    Supplier Performance and Improvement

    ● Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships that support competitive pricing, reliable deliveries, quality, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

    ● Track rejections and return material authorizations (RMAs)

    Cross-Functional Support

    ● Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Accounts Payable, Quality, Manufacturing, and other departments as needed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    ● At least 3 years of procurement experience.

    ● Experience procuring active and passive electronic components.

    ● Proficiency with ERP software.

    ● Ability to manage challenging commodities and a high-volume MRP workload.

    ● Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

    ● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.

    ● Valid driver’s license; occasional business-related travel is required.

    ● Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to export control requirements.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    ● Experience working in an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 certified environment.

    ● Relevant professional certification (such as CPSM, CPM, or APICS).

    ● Experience in the avionics industry.
