We're seeking an experienced Structural Steel Procurement Manager to take ownership of material purchasing and supply chain operations for a growing structural steel fabrication company. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to keep fabrication moving and projects on schedule.
What You'll Do
As our Procurement Manager, you'll oversee purchasing and material planning for multiple structural steel fabrication projects while serving as the critical connection between estimating, detailing, project management, fabrication, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Lead procurement activities from project award through completion
- Develop purchasing strategies
- Issue and manage purchase orders
- Coordinate mill-direct and service center purchasing
- Negotiate pricing, freight, delivery schedules, and supplier agreements
- Build and maintain strong supplier and mill relationships
- Monitor steel market pricing and purchasing trends
- Maintain accurate procurement data and reporting
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication
- 3+ years in procurement, purchasing, or materials management within structural steel
- Expert-level experience with Tekla PowerFab (Tekla EPM)
- Experience purchasing for multiple concurrent projects
- Experience managing large-scale steel buyouts (1,000+ tons)
- Knowledge of steel mills, service centers, and supply markets
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting AISC-certified fabrication operations
- Purchasing experience on projects valued at $5M+
- Inventory optimization and forecasting experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement background
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience, including:
- Base Salary: $60,000–$80,000+ DOE
