GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)The Procurement Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the procurement department. This position is important to the success of the company to ensure that vendor and client relationships are maintained and cultivated; proper timelines are maintained; and the quality/price/availability of products and services are continually evaluated. This position will also be negotiating and creating contract agreements and coordinating with the Project Director.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESSupervisory ResponsibilitiesHire and manage the staff required by the Procurement departmentOversee the daily workflow and schedules of the departmentOversee training of new and existing employees within the departmentConduct timely and constructive employee performance evaluationsCoordinate with the Human Resources department the discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policiesFunctional ResponsibilitiesNegotiate contractual and commercial terms with suppliers, acting as the company's representativePrepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment, and servicesMonitor and maintain procurement activities to meet required deadlinesContinually monitor and report on supplier performanceManage intermodal logistics including international import-export transactions globallyResolve disputes with suppliersEstablish and implement procurement processes and policiesImplement and maintain recordkeeping systemsCoordinate and collaborate with other departments to identify business needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, services, and acceptable substitutionsAssesses current availability of goods and services and forecast future availability based on the market conditions, delivery systems, and other variablesPrepare and present market condition and procurement cost reportsMonitor and report on stock inventory levels and coordinate the removal or disposal of surplus inventoryAdminister the departmental budgetReply to written and verbal requests in a timely mannerPerform other duties as assignedHEALTH & SAFETYBe a champion for safety, advocating safe behavior by all employeesWork in compliance with all company health and safety rules and regulationsIdentify any health and safety hazards or infractions and report the same to the Health and Safety departmentQUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in related field requiredMinimum of 5 years related experience, preferably in mining and/or material handlingCertified Purchasing Professional (CPP) certification preferredSkills, Knowledge, & AbilitiesUnderstanding of business and management principlesProven negotiation skillsStrong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train othersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriateThorough understanding of materials and supplies used by the companyAdvanced knowledge of the following software:Microsoft OfficeJD EdwardsPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional domestic and international travelAbility to access all areas of the facility to determine needsSubsurface Energy Resources is an Equal Opportunity Employer.This position is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
