    Process Technician (2nd Shift)

    Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 2nd Shift

    Trak group is partnering with a manufacturing client seeking an experienced Process Technician to set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment in a precision manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for machine setup, tooling, program and setup documentation, first-piece quality verification, troubleshooting, and maintaining production efficiency.

    The ideal candidate has strong hands-on machining experience, understands complex manufacturing processes, and can independently troubleshoot setups while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
    Responsibilities

    • Set up CNC and manual machines according to specifications and established procedures.

    • Read and interpret complex written, verbal, and visual manufacturing instructions.

    • Select and utilize proper tooling and setup sheets for each job.

    • Adjust tooling, machine parameters, coolant, and lubrication systems as needed.

    • Operate assigned machinery while maintaining production and quality standards.

    • Create, maintain, and save setup sheets and production programs for future runs.

    • Obtain first-piece inspections for qualifying production runs.

    • Verify and approve setups using dimensional measurements taken at the machine cell.

    • Troubleshoot machining and setup issues to maintain efficient production.

    • Minimize machine downtime and reduce setup and changeover times.

    • Identify minor equipment issues and communicate malfunctions to supervision.

    • Maintain organized and clean work areas while supporting 6S initiatives.

    • Train and mentor new employees on machining processes and procedures.

    • Follow applicable safety requirements, ISO 9001 procedures, and API 671 guidelines.
    Must-Haves

    • Hands-on experience with CNC and manual machining operations.

    • Strong machine setup and troubleshooting experience.

    • Ability to independently set up machines, tooling, and operating parameters.

    • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing instructions and setup documentation.

    • Experience using dimensional measurement tools to verify machined components.

    • Understanding of machining processes including turning and milling.

    • Knowledge of complex manufacturing processes such as heat treating, gear cutting, and grinding.

    • Familiarity with multi-axis machining environments.

    • Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, quality, and production standards.

    • Ability to troubleshoot setups and minimize production downtime.

    • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a manufacturing team.

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift or manipulate up to 35 pounds.
    Preferred

    • Experience creating or maintaining CNC production programs.

    • Experience developing and maintaining machine setup sheets.

    • Precision or complex component manufacturing experience.

    • Experience training or mentoring other machinists.

    • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.

    • Experience working to API 671 requirements.
