Process Optimization Engineer, Elastomer & Urethane Manufacturing

If you have 2–3 years of manufacturing experience and a passion for elevating performance, you’ll own initiatives that boost efficiency, quality, and speed to market.

A Day in the Life

You kick off the morning with a quick floor walk—checking cycle times, validating standard work, and chatting with operators about a new cell layout. A production issue appears; you dive into root-cause analysis, implement a corrective action, and log updates in the ERP (IQMS preferred). Before lunch, you review PPAP documentation and first-article results for a new urethane product. The afternoon includes updating BOMs/routings, preparing KPI dashboards, and collaborating with Quality, Operations, and Tooling on a process capability study. You wrap by outlining a plan for a small capital project—specifying equipment and validation steps—then brief the Director of Engineering on wins and the next improvement sprint.

What You’ll Drive

• Operational Excellence: Implement Lean/Six Sigma ideas that reduce waste, increase throughput, and elevate product quality.
• Data-Backed Decisions: Analyze production trends, pinpoint root causes, and keep process documentation and standard work current.
• Production Support: Provide daily hands-on engineering assistance; lead corrective actions; improve cycle times; validate equipment and processes.
• New Product Introduction: Partner cross-functionally on process design, tooling development, feasibility reviews, PPAPs, first articles, and production trials—launching products with minimal disruption.
• Systems & Data: Use ERP/MRP (IQMS preferred) to manage BOMs, routings, and inventory accuracy; safeguard data integrity; publish KPIs; support system enhancements.
• Collaboration & Compliance: Align with plant initiatives; champion safety, quality, and environmental standards; contribute to equipment specification, installation, and validation; take on additional duties as business needs evolve.

Reporting Line

Reports to the Director of Engineering and partners closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• 2–3 years in a manufacturing environment with strong troubleshooting, analytics, and project management
• Hands-on approach—comfortable working on the shop floor
• ERP familiarity (IQMS preferred); ability to manage production data, BOMs, and routings
• Strong communicator; effective with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
• Capable of independent work and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with rubber, urethane, or related polymer manufacturing
• Lean and Six Sigma experience; Green Belt or higher a plus
• Knowledge of material science and regulatory/compliance standards
• Proficiency with statistical analysis and SPC tools
