Why do we need you ?

As the Process Excellence Manager, you will play a critical role in advancing manufacturing performance across our Roofing operations network. This position is responsible for driving process excellence initiatives across multiple plants, with a primary focus on the Communities of Practice (CoPs) for Glass Mat, Roofing Line, Surfacing, Raw Materials, Asphalt, and Packaging.

You will serve as a technical leader and trusted partner to Operations, Plant Leadership, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams, helping identify and implement best practices that improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Material Usage Variance (MUV), product quality, and cost performance. By leveraging benchmarking, data analytics, and cross-site collaboration, you will help standardize processes, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and accelerate operational improvement across the network.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and strengthen Communities of Practice by facilitating knowledge sharing, technical collaboration, and performance benchmarking across manufacturing sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, reduce waste, optimize raw material usage, and lower manufacturing costs.
  • Provide technical process support and troubleshooting expertise to plants, helping resolve operational and quality issues while improving manufacturing reliability.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to coordinate raw material qualifications, evaluate alternative materials, and support new technology implementations.
  • Establish and promote process standards, benchmarking practices, and troubleshooting frameworks that drive consistency and sustainable improvements across facilities.
  • Support safety, HAZOP, and compliance initiatives while ensuring adherence to company standards and applicable industry requirements, including ASTM roofing codes.
  • Mentor and develop technical talent across the network by translating complex data and process information into actionable insights and practical solutions.

This is a highly visible role that influences manufacturing performance across multiple plants and product lines. Success requires strong technical expertise, operational credibility, analytical problem solving, and the ability to influence teams without direct authority.

Is this job for you ?

We are looking for a collaborative and results-oriented manufacturing professional who is passionate about continuous improvement and operational excellence. The ideal candidate thrives in a technical environment, enjoys solving complex process challenges, and can build strong relationships across multiple manufacturing locations.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within roofing, building materials, or other continuous process manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies, including root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience supporting or operating continuous web manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing process data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert technical findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain organizations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage audiences ranging from plant operators to senior leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% to 50% domestically to support plant initiatives, technical reviews, and Community of Practice activities.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of roofing manufacturing processes, technologies, and ASTM Roofing Codes.
  • Experience working across multiple manufacturing facilities and product lines.
  • Experience leading benchmarking, standardization, and best practice deployment efforts across a manufacturing network.
  • Proven success driving measurable improvements in OEE, material utilization, quality performance, and operating costs.

This role is ideal for a technical manufacturing leader who wants to make a broad impact across multiple facilities while helping shape the future performance and capabilities of our Roofing operations.
