    Position Description

    Title: Process Engineer - Paper Manufacturing

    Department: Engineering

    Immediate Supervisor: Engineering Manager

    Status: Exempt

    Location: On-Site at our Blythewood, SC facility

    $2,500 Sign-On Bonus Available for Qualified Candidates

    Position Purpose: Provide process engineering support across all manufacturing operations with a primary focus on paper manufacturing processes. Serve as the sites technical expert for paper-related production issues, helping identify process bottlenecks, improve product quality and consistency, optimize machine performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve overall plant efficiency and manufacturing performance.

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Support process improvement initiatives across all manufacturing operations and production equipment.
    • Serve as the primary technical resource and subject matter expert for paper manufacturing processes and paper-related production challenges.
    • Investigate paper machine performance issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve process stability, quality, yield, and throughput.
    • Analyze production data and process trends to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement across the facility.
    • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and optimize production performance.
    • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, process capability, machine efficiency, and product consistency.
    • Support new product introductions, process trials, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
    • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
    • Provide technical training and coaching to operations personnel regarding process controls and best practices.
    • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process modifications throughout the plant.
    • Prepare and communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations.
    • Develop, implement and communicate work instructions, procedures and other documentation as necessary to support work responsibilities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills and Experience

    • Bachelors degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a related engineering field.
    • 3+ years of process engineering experience within paper manufacturing, paper converting, packaging, tissue, or a related paper products environment.
    • Strong understanding of paper manufacturing processes, paper properties, and process optimization techniques.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot paper machine issues, identify process bottlenecks, and improve production performance.
    • Experience with root cause analysis, process improvement, and manufacturing problem-solving.
    • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment..
