Description

Versatile Process Engineer with 3 to 5 years of hands on experience in process and manufacturing optimization.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Programming on CNC machines (lathes/mills)
  2. Support APQP Team in new launches
    • Develop tooling and cutting plan based on process inputs/outputs
    • Acts as lead for sourcing initial tooling
    • Perform initial job set-up and write process set-up sheets
    • Create and maintain process drawings (tool paths)
    • Acts as lead for process development to establish a production ready process
    • Train technical group and/or operators on new processes
  3. Support Continual Improvement Activities
    • Acts as lead for engineering process improvement
    • Test tooling and process changes to achieve desired output
    • Summarize and present recommendations for tooling and process changes based on testing results
    • Make new recommendations for improvements based on experience and emerging technologies
    • Train technical group and/or operators on changes to processes
  4. Support Production and Corrective Actions
    • Act as technical support for uncommon issues (special projects)
    • Able to find and implement solutions for issues both common and uncommon
  5. Blueprint Reading
  6. Basic Process Troubleshooting
  7. GD&T, APQP, FMEA
  8. AutoCAD
  9. Basic understanding of milling and turning tools
    Proper application based on workpiece material
    • Differences and Applications for tooling materials (carbide, HSS, ceramics, etc.)
    • Tooling Geometry (Inclination, Rake, Lead, Relief, Nose Radius, Chip Breaker, etc.)
    • Tooling Connection (machine and workpiece side)
    • Cutting Parameters (speeds, feeds, depth of cut, chip load, etc.)

We are a high volume precision machining company and have 3 plants in Macomb, MI (southeastern metro Detroit area).

We specialize in automotive machining (engine, transmission, suspension components) which are all castings and forgings.
