OVERVIEW:

Merrick & Company is seeking a college Process/Chemical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Aiken, SC office with our Nuclear Services and Technology group.

 

Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

 

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of Process/Chemical engineering by working on actual projects for our clients. The summer internship will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in a variety of process engineering items including P&ID drawings, process simulation and engineering calculations.

 

The intern will collaborate with other disciplines, interface with engineers, designers, and clients, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently and in a team environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles and calculations are required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Being familiar with Microsoft Excel.
  • Exposure to PFD and P&ID drawing.
  • Local candidates strongly preferred.
