Design with Purpose. Solve Complex Challenges. Help Shape the Future of Life Sciences.
You've developed a strong foundation in process engineering and are ready to take on more complex projects, greater design responsibility, and opportunities to help others grow.
At GBA, our Life Sciences team helps clients develop the facilities and processes that support pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, and other highly specialized operations. Our work brings together technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and collaboration to develop efficient, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions.
We're looking for a Process Engineer III to join our Life Sciences team in Lenexa, Kansas. In this role, you'll lead project-level process design efforts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help develop the systems and solutions that support complex manufacturing environments.
You'll have the independence to make technical decisions, opportunities to guide developing engineers, and room to continue growing your expertise and project leadership skills.
Take Ownership of Process Design
Lead project-level process engineering design efforts for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other specialized manufacturing facilities.
Develop process calculations, equipment sizing, material and energy balances, and engineering solutions using principles of fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
Prepare and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
Develop construction documents, drawings, reports, and specifications using engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Revit.
Evaluate process equipment, piping systems, utilities, and control requirements to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Review technical calculations, designs, construction submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information (RFIs).
Conduct facility evaluations, engineering studies, and process assessments to identify challenges and recommend improvements.
Apply applicable codes, permitting requirements, and industry standards, including GMP, FDA, and ISPE guidelines, throughout the design process.
Collaborate to Deliver Complex Projects
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, automation, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to develop coordinated process solutions.
Lead process discipline coordination, helping teams resolve technical challenges and maintain design quality.
Support project planning through scope development, fee calculations, technical documentation, and coordination of engineering deliverables.
Manage assigned design responsibilities, schedules, and priorities to support successful project delivery.
Communicate technical recommendations clearly to project teams, clients, equipment vendors, and contractors.
Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) activities.
Build trusted client relationships by understanding operational needs and developing practical, technically sound solutions.
Guide and Develop Other Engineers
Provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and technicians throughout the design process.
Review engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documents, offering constructive feedback and helping maintain high-quality deliverables.
Share your technical knowledge and help developing engineers strengthen their design skills, engineering judgment, and problem-solving abilities.
Encourage collaboration, accountability, and open communication across project teams.
Help build a culture rooted in GBA's core values of teamwork, integrity, honesty, learning, service, and innovation.
